Protect Fair Elections: Say NO to Partisan Gerrymandering in Virginia

We, the undersigned Virginians, demand an end to the current efforts to redraw congressional maps for partisan advantage. 

These redistricting efforts, widely viewed as gerrymandering, undermine democratic principles, override the will of voters who supported independent redistricting, and threaten to disenfranchise citizens by creating uncompetitive districts.

Whereas, in 2020, two-thirds of Virginia voters demanded fair, independent redistricting;

Whereas, the proposed maps are perceived as an attempt to entrench one-party control, favoring partisan interests over fair representation;

Whereas, fair elections require that voters choose their politicians, not politicians choosing their voters; 

Therefore, WE THE PEOPLE petition the General Assembly to:

1. Immediately halt the adoption of any gerrymandered or partisan redistricting maps.

2. Uphold the integrity of the constitutional, bipartisan redistricting process.

3. Ensure all future districts are drawn fairly, competitively, and without bias to ensure every Virginia voice is heard. 

We, the people of Virginia, demand maps that represent the people, not the politicians.
